THE AWARDS
Level 3 Awards are set to reflect competence in direct work environments where candidates work directly with recipients of the service.
Level 4 Awards have a management component and candidates undertaking these Awards will be expected to hold some managerial responsibility throughout their daily working practices.
The awards on offer within the RACJSA are:
Community Safety & Crime Reduction
Work with Victims, Survivors and Witnesses
These Awards are suitable for workers in Probation Services, in voluntary organisations, in community based groups working with those at risk of offending behaviour, – including workers in custodial settings, hostel environments and community initiatives. Units for these Awards include:
Level 3
- Help individuals address their offending behaviour.
- Support individuals experiencing difficulties.
- Prepare, implement and evaluate group activities.
- Support individuals who are substance users.
Level 4
- Enable individuals to understand and address their difficulties.
- Assess and manage high risk of harm.
- Contribute to the quality of team working.
- Recognise indication of substance misuse and refer individulas to specialists.
Community Safety & Crime Reduction
These Awards are suitable for workers in local Councils, in the Police Service, in voluntary organisations working in the community, in Probation Services, and those involved in community regeneration. Units for these Awards include:
Level 3
- Promote equality and value diversity.
- Contribute to developing awareness and community action in relation to crime .
- Address problems identified with community safety and social inclusion.
- Facilitate meetings.
Level 4
- Monitor the development of policies to promote community justice and social inclusion and present information and recommendations for change
- Contribute to the development & promotion of the Agency & it's services.
- Promote the values of community justice inclusion and seize opportunities to influence policy development.
- Manage a budget.
Work with Victims , Survivors and Witnesses
These Awards are suitable for those who work directly with victims, survivors or witnesses. These awards recognise the range of practical support offered to victims, survivors and witnesses as well as the skills necessary for competent work within and between groups. Units for these Awards include:
Level 3
- Contribute to the quality of team working.
- Evaluate and process referrals to provide services to victims, survivors and witnesses.
- Enable people to support victims, survivors and witnesses in managing the effects of their experiences on their lives.
- Enable individuals to find out about and use services and facilities.
Level 4
- Develop a culture and systems that promote equality and value diversity.
- Support victims, survivors and witnesses who have suffered berevement.
- Develop, negotiate and agree proposals to offer services and products
- Advocate on behalf of individuals.
These Awards are suitable for workers in the youth custodial sector, in probation, and in community work with young people who may be at risk of offending behaviour. Units for these Awards include:
Level 3
- Model behaviour and relationships with children and young people which recognises the impact of crime on victims and communities.
- Contribute to the prevention and management of challenging behaviour by children and young people.
- Prepare and provide agreed individual development activities for children and young people.
- Raise awareness about substances, their use and effects.
Level 4
- Process information relating to children and young people's offending behaviour.
- Support victims and survivors who are involved in restorative processes.
- Enable children and young people who have offended to be supported by education services.
- Support the efficient use of resources.
